A Note About Updates and Tolkien Fandom
(an explanation and apology of sorts)
I must inform you all, faithful LOTR fans that there will be only sporadic updates of this site for quite some time. This is for two reasons: #1 It seems LOTR humor is at a standstill on the web. With the films having been out for several years now the fandom is no longer growing and people are not actively making parodies. Whenever I look for new pictures to put up or new parodies to add I have to search for longer and longer before I find something I haven't already seen. (sometimes I feel I've seen EVERY SINGLE captioned pic on the net) I have great hopes that once the filming of The Hobbit begins in 2009/10 there will be a revival of interest in all things Tolkien and the fandom will once again stir itself into action. #2 I have less time these days than I did when I began the site in 2002 on Geocities. A lot has happened since then and I've had to do that horrible thing that happens to everyone and "grow up." Which basically means I'm the same exact person but with all these lovely extra responsibilities tacked on. Take my advice, don't grow up if you can help it.
Until the filming of The Hobbit begins and finding parodies becomes easier, I will only be putting up what pictures/parodies/etc. you LOTRSpoofs fans send me. Also, the caption contest is going to be put on hold until further notice, mostly because I feel incredibly guilty that I never update it or post people's submissions.
Please note, I am NOT even considering closing the site, so no worries there.

3/17/09 - I still live
It's been a year since the last update. Nothing has changed since the note above was written but I wanted to pop by and assure everyone the site still lives, as do I. Happy Christmas, New Year, and any other holidays that occurred between last update and now.
I also briefly ran through the personality test section and got rid of all the ones that no longer work. Cheers! - Nevermore

I'm sure by now you've all heard the good news about The Hobbit.
I've updated the caption contest with all the captions that were sent in since the last update, it can be found in Contest Archives 8. Caption Contest is now on hold until further notice.

EDIT - Actually I have something else to add. There's a new forum, it looks and works exactly the same as the old one, but it's different from my end and saves me a lot of trouble. So, that's why it's nearly completely empty. If you go there you'll need to re-register.

2/6/07 - Time can bifurcate like a pair of trousers
I've done some slight redecorating, LOTR Spoofs is now a bit less green and a bit more blue. We also now match the forum colors. If it's taken me so long just to match the place I guess I'll never be an interior designer. Ah well, no loss there.
The Caption Contest is updated. There are 5 new chapters in the UrukHai Manual for Seiging and Pillaging. We also have a new written parody - Politically Correct LOTR thanks to Gothmog who also wrote another parody "Appendix A" which I decided not to put up but which can be read on the forums so go check that out here.

1/9/07 - Narf. Poit. Egad. Hark? Caption Contest updated. Five new chapters available in the UrukHai Manual For Seiging and Pillaging I've also reorganized some of the spoofs in the gallery. There's now a section for comics and drawn parodies. I used to not like to post comics, but now I figured what the heck... I know, standards are breaking down what has become of the world? Wisdom of the Day - If you have a headache, do what it says on the aspirin bottle: Take two, and KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN.
